Received this e-mail from The Education Trust regarding Senators Jack Reed (D. RI) and Dick Durbin's (D. IL) legislation known as the Student Loan Affordability Act:
Tomorrow, the Senate will vote on a proposal to prevent federal student loan rates from doubling on July 1.
The Student Loan Affordability Act, introduced by Senators Reed (D-RI), Harkin (D-IA), Reid (D-NV), and Murray (D-WA), will benefit students by extending the current rate of 3.4% for an additional two years – keeping loans affordable.

Here's a script you can follow:
The Student Loan Affordability Act (S.953) is a smart step toward addressing federal student loans. Congress needs time to find a comprehensive, long-term solution. This bill will prevent students from paying more while Congress figures it out.
Americans already owe over $1 trillion dollars in student debt. Going to college shouldn't mean a lifetime of crushing student loans.
Students need relief from high college costs, not higher interest rates. Please Vote "Yes!" on the Student Loan Affordability Act.
Thank you.
Support the Student Loan Affordability Act to keep interest rates low for students that need them most and to prevent Congress from rushing to a bad solution.
