Inevitable, I suppose: waited all afternoon for the Verizon techs to show up (and I really wanted a nap), turns out they had to drive aaaaaaalll the way somewhere to pick up the necessary gadget, but it should've been a quick install once they got here. Nice guys, reminded me of my brothers' best friend from high school (and complimented me on my xkcd tshirt), weren't at all patronizing when we were talking about the tech & gadgetry stuff -- and then they needed access to some locked room downstairs.
And the super -- who's seriously a real jackass -- wouldn't walk down to the office from his on-site apartment to unlock the door for them. Because it was 4:30, and his work day ends at 4. And yes, his (free) apartment is provided to him (free) as part of the (well-paid) job, with the understanding that he will do shit like that (I'm not even going to get into how he charges for various services which are also supposed to be part of the job. And then there's the sexist patronizing crap -- and seriously, I know more about building/engineering/architecture/plumbing than he does). So no new internet for me to play with, sigh.
And then the Verizon website was glitchy, & it took me forever to get to a person to re-schedule (never did get through to the direct line which might've been able to reschedule me for tomorrow). And by then it was raining, and I wanted to get to the health food store for their once-a-month discount day...
OTOH, I think I made the Verizon phone flunky's day when I was businesslike, polite and pleasant. Apparently today was an especially hard day at the call bank.
