I would much prefer that someone else run on the Democratic ticket for the presidency in 2016, and not Hillary Clinton. (and it has nothing to do with her being a woman).
And my personal opinion is not at all based on the job she did as a previous First Lady, as a Senator from New York, or as the Secretary of State --- or her Benghazi "talking points" that has distracted too many of us from the more pressing issues that currently plagues our nation.
Nor does my opinion have anything at all to do with her husband, or the fact that he passed trade agreements that sent jobs offshore --- and lowered the capital gain tax, for which the wealthy mostly benefited --- and de-regulated the banks in 1999.
Nor does my opinion have anything at all to do with "Whitewater-gate", "Filegate", "Travelgate", the Clinton's multi-million-dollar blind trust or their support for bailing out the banks. I don't believe Hillary should run simply because I'm tired of political dynasties...the perpetuation of the same people doing the same things that have destroyed the middle-class in this country over the past 40 years.
I believe that for decades, greed, dishonesty, dishonor and corruption has run rampant in both major parties of our political system. And it has only gotten worse with Citizens United and super PACs. And if one isn't corrupt when first elected to office, they usually become quickly corrupted by those that are already in office and gaming the system.
At the State and Federal level they are bribed by campaign donors and lobbyists to pass laws (that lobbyists write) so that the most wealthy and powerful individuals and corporations in this country don't have to break any laws to obtain their desired results. The tax code is but one of many examples.
Now the Democrats want the Clintons BACK in the White House --- they want Hillary Clinton to run for President in 2016.
I'm sick and tired of having to choose between "the better of two evils". Personally, I would like to see Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alan Grayson on the 2016 presidential ticket. But the powerful political machinery of the Democratic and Republican parties forces good people like this out of the mainstream political process --- alienating them and branding them as "radical".
FULL DISCLOSURE: No, I am not proposing a separate and stand-alone Progressive Party on a Democratic website (even though the Progressives caucus with the Democrats) because from what I've been told, that would be against this website's policies. Besides, I don't see anything like that happening in my lifetime anyway.
But we do need new people (or new blood) in the White House --- not people like Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush --- not the same old stale dynasties from days past. Almost everybody in office now has been part of the problem all along, so why would we want to keep them in power? Is that "hope and change"?
But if I only had a choice between Hillary Clinton and someone else, such as Mitt Romney, then of course I would prefer Bill Clinton's wife --- but only because she'd be the better of two evils.
