When did we stop caring about our constitutional rights (gun rights being the exception)? How did we become so apathetic? Does it have to be in our living rooms & have an immediate direct effect before we start caring & speak up? Are we blind or just incapable of seeing the bigger picture down the road? Do we just accept what we're being spoon fed because the alternative seems impossible? What will it take for us to start caring again? What will convince us that our lack of action today will make life much more difficult for our children? Our silence enables our government to fight never ending wars, to kill civilians courtesy of drones, to allow more & more surveillance of our personal lives at the discretion of our government. Our silence enables abuse of power. Our silence does not protect us. Our government's boundless drone war creates new terrorists every day. We invite retaliation because we have no regard for sovereignty or the innocent civilians being sacrificed. We make up our own rules & laws. We demand global cooperation. We operate covertly, secretly, constitution be damned. We have & continue to unleash hell in the Middle East which in return has destroyed our economy & restricted our freedoms which is exactly what our enemies wanted. We lost because of our failed strategies and closed mindedness to change our ways of wars. We keep doing the same thing over & over again & again ~aka insanity. And we are not any safer for it (ie: Boston Bombing). We retrieve & store unimaginable amounts of data domestically & globally that admittedly can't be reviewed in its entirety. We need qualitative intelligence, not quantitative. Additionally, we have to change our war policy to diplomacy & peace. Lastly, we need to commit to improving the quality of life for Americans. A better quality of life doesn't mean more wars, more surveillance, less freedoms, more secrecy and aggressive prosecution of journalists & whistleblowers topped off with austerity. It means jobs, education, healthcare and protecting our basic rights to shelter, food, water and preserving our constitution & civil liberties. If we choose apathy & silence and aren't willing to hold our government accountable, our enemies will. And we will experience hell first hand on American soil.
