9.10. 2001 I was happy rebuilding a theater in the town I grew up and teaching artist how to get their art on online. 9.11.2001 turned me into a blogger, Iraq in 2003 turn me into an activist, 10 years later, I'm going to the NetRoots NAtion 13 convention to tell my story and use Veterans Green Bus to demonstrate what a veteran can do with next to nothing except the desire to serve. I'll also talk about other great programs and initiatives like the CCC, Team Rubicon, Veterans Green Jobs, Veterans to Farmers, etc. http://www.netrootsnation.org/

In the Early 90's I was working with my brother in San Jose. building websites and designing interactive multi media projects for Apple, INC, Adobe, and Fractal Design Corps to name a few.
I learned from the industry that invented the medium how it could work for anyone with a good idea.
I left the tech industry in 1996 to teach rural artists how to use the internet to express their art and reach a broader audience.

That experience taught me several lessons and in my opinion proved my theory.
"Given the access to the tools and technologies needed to communicate in the digital age the best ideas and most creative minds will succeed regardless of their location."
With the creation of "Large Marge", The Veterans Green Bus, I'm combining what I've learned from producing and teaching digital media with alternative energy solutions for disaster relief. With the goal of empowering veterans to continue their service through volunteerism and helping themselves by learning how to express themselves using digital mediums.
Art and disaster as therapy?
Fri Jun 14, 2013 at 11:52 AM PT: Looks like Large Marge will be out. of the hospital soon..
Looks like Large Marge will out of the Hospital by Wednesday. Just enough time to drive her to San Jose for NetRoots Nation 13.
But her hospital bill will not be cheep. $2,500 was the estimate. Since we run on donations of used cooking oil and with the biodiesel from Sequential we wont need fuel to get to San Jose and we can put that money into these repairs.
Imagine that? in stead of burning donations in the tail pipe @ $1.00 per mile. That money is being used to keep the bus on the road for hundreds of thousands of miles.
The trip from Roanoke, VA to Seattle WA was 2,700 miles. We spent just $200 on diesel only because we were traveling at night when the restaurants were closed. We still saved $2500 in fuel costs. The trip from Portland to San Jose next week will be 700 miles. saving another $700 from being burned.
In just a little over a month we will have traveled across the country and the west coast a distance of over 4000 miles. What would have cost us $4,000 in fuel will have been reduced to less that $400. Proving our 90% savings goal can be reached.
