Yeah, this.
Federal prosecutors have filed a sealed criminal complaint against Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who leaked a trove of documents about top-secret surveillance programs, and the United States has asked Hong Kong to detain him on a provisional arrest warrant, according to U.S. officials.
Snowden was charged with espionage, theft and conversion of government property, the officials said.
And, of course:
A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to comment.
Snowden didn't out anyone (yeah, looking at you Scooter Libby and Darth Cheney), kill workers with negligence caused by greed (BP and any number of corporations), didn't steal the homes of millions of Americans through fraud (Banksters and their Wall Street derivative creating co-conspirators), didn't steal the retirement savings and pensions of workers (corporations, corporate raiders, Wall Street), didn't harm one person by putting a drug on the market by hiding negative information (nearly all of Big Pharma), or do anything but release information on how our Constitutional rights are being systematically ignored.
The big difference here is that he's going to be prosecuted, fiercely by the same Federal Government that refuses to prosecute others because they're rich, powerful, and have government officials hanging off their puppet strings.
What we need are rich and powerful whistleblowers and maybe Uncle Sam would back off (or politicians rush to their door for contributions).
I'm mad about our failure to hold the rich and powerful accountable and I'm furious at the continued reminder that the Golden Rule is still obeyed by those in power:
He who has the gold makes the rules
Say it ain't so.
