If you can't handle the N-Word, then don't read this blog. If you think it should never, ever be uttered, then don't read this blog. I only use it for educational purposes...and America needs to be educated.
Paula Deen is the n*gg*r.
Back in 1963 James Baldwin said, "What you say about somebody else, anybody else reveals you. We (America) invented the nigger. I didn't invent him. White people invented him. And they invested me with it. As that's so, no matter what you've done to me I can say this to you and I mean this. I've always known that I'm not a nigger. But if I am not the nigger and if it's true that your invention reveals you, then WHO is the nigger? You're the nigger baby. It isn't me."
Check out what Baldwin said in it's entirety in the embedded video. RAW. POWERFUL STUFF.
So, Paula Deen is the n*gg*r...and so are those of her ilk.
She's a vile person for saying it and so is everybody else who says it...no matter what their skin color or ethnicity. But while that's true and I'd hope nobody would use that word, it's even more vile coming out of the mouth of those who invented it.
And to Deen's apologists who say all she did was say a bad word, please check out her deposition filed in conjunction with a racial and sexual discrimination lawsuit filed against her and her brother "Bubba" by a former employee for alleged misconduct at the restaurant they own. This is more than just an isolated incident of another old southerner getting caught saying the N-word. Deen admits in the deposition that "of course" she uses the N-word and that she wanted to have black men dress up like slaves to work at some wedding function. WTF!!
Paula Deen wanting blacks to dress like slaves for her amusement is like a Nazi descendant wanting Jews to dress like concentration camp prisoners.
And top of everything else, per the lawsuit Deen and Bubba mandated separate bathrooms for black and white employees at their restaurant. White employees were free to use the customer bathroom at the front of the restaurant, but black employees had to use the facilities in the back. Just like the good ol' days of Jim Crow, right?
So, Paula Deen is the n*gg*r. The Food Network did the right thing by not renewing her contract, in essence saying, "This n*gg*r can't work here any more."
Her apologists can keep patronizing her restaurants. They can keep buying her cookbooks and cooking products. They can keep watching her TV shows for these last few days they are on the Food Network. But I won't. Refuse to subsidize or watch racists. But she'll be OK. When her new show pops up on Fox News, she'll fit in with the rest of the n*gg*rs there.
Paula Deen is the n*gg*r. It sure as hell isn't me.
6:09 PM PT: To all of the offended, pseudo DailyKos intellectuals who have reacted to this in much the way I knew you would because you simply do not get the impact of this word or why it must be used sometimes when discussing race in America: Please proceed...
8:21 PM PT: Those wannabe intellectuals who'd prefer to not deal with the "N-word" and prefer that I not use the it in this piece need to check this out for a dose of reality: 6-year-old attempts suicide after Israeli classmates keep calling her "n*gg*r" & wish death upon her http://972mag.com/... …
