could place some of our more outstanding and proven state legislators in national positions for the near future?
I'm thinking right now about several of our great Texas Democrats starting with State Senator Wendy Davis (D-FTW) and her cohorts, but there are others like them scattered throughout the country.
People who have proven their mettle on the political battlegrounds, such skillful resources would be extremely valuable leading up to the 2014 election cycle.
Follow on below the dying wisp of Republican dreams...
It so happens that our Texas Legislature will soon be out of session until 2015 (after the near certain '30 day second special session' is called by Perry) and I assume that they might be available for some midterm 'special heavy lifting' national positions (a large assumption to be sure, but they are needed for a 'higher calling' at this time, and I have no party connections at all outside of voting).
Other states also have proven, effective legislative leaders who might be available, duds need not apply.
These jobs could be in the executive branch itself, or in the Democratic Party structure. The experts and wonks could position such talent as it might be best deployed in effective national positions, temporarily as available and needed.
Our Democratic Party leaders are going to need all the talent, resources, and skills possible to advance our goals to elect (and re-elect) enough Democrats to beat down the very real threats to American democracy looming across the country. This is a war (the R's have defined it as such for years).
The Republicans appeared to be whipped a few years ago, with the mega-assistance of forces such as ALEC, the Koch brothers, a captive RW media, hordes of delirious TEA Partiers and theocratic American Taliban xtian fundies they made a chilling comeback.
It's past time we did the same.
It will take a massive, sustained effort. We must engage it, and it is obvious that there is some great talent available.
Can it be deployed nationally? Could President Obama be persuaded to call up some more talent from the bullpen?
What do y'all think?
