Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! Link to your recruitment diary is OK though.
Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. To join, read this diary and visit the Guild web site to put in an application. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome.
More below the fold:

In honor of the end of the Midsummer Fire Festival (and not coincidentally, Independence Day) there will be a fireworks spectacular in Booty Bay to celebrate.

For some of us, thanks to time, energy, or budgetary restrictions, it's the only fireworks spectacular we're getting.

Happy Fourth of July, and on to the raid reports.

Here's the Team Kaels report from Ninotchka:

I've been sentenced to a day of heavy housecleaning for bad behavior, so I must make this brief.

Last week, Team Kaels looked deep inside our souls and realized that we really really really wanted to kill Lei Shen. And so we did. It was a tremendous relief. I was floating on a cloud for hours.

That means that this week, we started heroics! And, ouch! We've been used to treating Jin'rokh as a speed bump on the way to more interesting fights. I don't think I flasked for him the last three times we fought. Well, heroic Jin'rokh is getting his revenge for the cavalier way we treated regular Jin'rokh. A whole new lightning dance to learn. Oh joy. We had one pull where we got him to 9% with two people dead, so we know we have the mechanics down it's just a case of getting an attempt where we don't make too many mistakes. It's a fun fight, though. I look forward to having this one on farm.

Here's Pamena with the Team RubiPam and Saturday Night Massacre reports:
Team RubiPam has nothing to report, except thanks to Zarjah, Chanta's hunter alt, for coming in as our Monday night sub for Heinkel for the next few weeks. We appreciate it!

Saturday Night Massacre - we went back to our old pattern last week of doing a round of world bosses, then a guild LFR, all very successful. This coming Saturday, if we get enough guildies on at 9PM, we can try heroic Ragnaros, to finish the FIrelands raid achievement - it would help if we had a few folks who've done Rags before. He was cake on normal a few weeks ago, but I imagine heroic will be a bit more challenging, although not that difficult I hope. Then we'll go on to Throne of the Four Winds. We also need to finish up heroic Dragon Soul, but I've been putting that one off as long as possible, as it has just been a year since Team Kaels and Team RP were in there on heroic, and I'm STILL bored with it. Nonetheless, we'll get to it in the next few weeks.

And finally, the Team Z report from Moodyloner:
So, we got Garalon to seven percent.

Seven. Bloody. Percent.

Next week.

That's all I have for this week. For the Horde!

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Got my shaman up above level 80 and her Alchemy maxed, so at least I can supply my own flasks and potions now. Would like to max her out as a healer, but I already have a paladin and a priest I can't heal with.

    •  I'm leveling too (6+ / 0-)

Got my druid Veltha up to 30 and am working on my goblin rogue. Everyone looks very tall when you're a goblin.

    •  I got several alts into the 80's (2+ / 0-)

and then realized that in the real world a year of time had passed and I needed to paint my house and shingle my roof. My lawn needed to be mowed and my garden weeded.

Between Level 80 and 90 you get to where you can't do most of the things you want to do without a group of people who you know and trust to be maximally effective with their characters.

Its assumed you have maxed out your professions, know your way around, have purchased or made the best armor, weapons, and buffs, have awesome transportation, learned to corner the market in anything that interests you in the auction house, and the only way to go is to try new variations on your alts.

Every once and a while you learn a new trick or go a bit farther into your options for new challenges.

Its been another year and now I have my house painted and my roof sheathed and my garden planted and my lawn mowed but real life just seems kind of dull.

LFD and LFR with quests, both alliance and horde; but preferred to solo heroics bought or made gear and buffs to the limit of my lvl so not much reward from dungeon, but tried to learn the right balance of DPS, especially with Death Knight, Hunter and Rogue.

I could never get into Palladin, Warrior, Priest or Shaman; healing wasn't my thing; tried Warlock and Mage but they weren't really my thing either.

When I was gathering for alchemy/herbalism I got into farming from refuge point and collected tons of goldroot,
but turns out philosophers stone and transmutes isn't all that big a deal.

I tried mining/blacksmithing and around 450 I needed to do an expansion to go further.

Eventually I just got into flying around looking for stuff I hadn't seen before so I ran all the quests, sneaking through them as a rogue.

I liked arenas but then they came out with the fight club deal and that wasn't the same.

The patch is going to knock out reputation requirements for all the old valor gear, and make most of it justice rather than valor.  Finally, a use for justice points!
