While we obsess ourselves in endless circles kvetching about whether the NSA knows our logins to Amazon.com and Reddit, the sewers of Chicago are filling with the blood of the young, the old and everyone in between.
In a flurry of weekend violence in Chicago, 72 people were wounded or killed in gun violence.
The violence is so prolific that they crammed details of each shooting into a single article at the local NBC affiliate. What were they going to do? Write 72 BREAKING news articles about mostly minority violence when there are ferret contests to cover?? Please.
Gun violence is a threat to the pursuit of happiness in America. Sandy Hook helped those who don't realize the immensity of the lives being cut short by this problem in minority communities; places where, sadly, our white-focused, main-stream media are "less interested".
It's a scandal when the NSA is spying on us. It is.
It's a tragedy when 72 people are shot in one weekend in America, regardless of skin color.
We need to remain focused on gun control.
