From Reuters:
British lawmakers said on Tuesday they would recall media mogul Rupert Murdoch to clarify evidence he gave to them last year after he was secretly recorded belittling a police inquiry into alleged crimes committed by journalists on his papers.
Murdoch told staff at his Sun tabloid in a private meeting in March he had been wrong to help the police investigation into illegal tactics which he said the industry had used for decades, comments that sharply contrasted with the profuse public apologies he had given parliament's media committee.
Murdoch, the head of News Corp and 21st Century Fox , had described himself then as humbled and appalled by the revelations of illegality and phone-hacking that forced the closure of his prized News of the World tabloid two years ago.

In other Hackgate news, today, two more senior Murdoch staff were charged with bribery. (h/t AnnetteK) From The Sydney Morning Herald:
The head of news at Rupert Murdoch's British Sun tabloid is to be charged with authorising illegal payments to police and army officials, prosecutors said, the latest senior figure from the media mogul's newspapers to face criminal charges.
Chris Pharo is to be charged with conspiring with prison officers, including those based at a high-security psychiatric hospital, police officers from three forces, and British army officers to commit misconduct in a public office.
Britain's Crown Prosecution Service also said in a statement on Monday Lucy Panton, the former crime editor at Murdoch's now defunct News of the World title, would be charged over illicit payments to a prison officer and his ex-partner.

Update 1:
Via a tweet from @EricBoehlert, we learn that, thanks to the new secret audiotape, UK Police on the Operation Elveden beat have begun investigating Rupert's foreknowledge of criminal activity. From channel4.com:
Rupert Murdoch is to give evidence to MPs over revelations in a recording broadcast by Channel 4 News, as it emerges police are to investigate what he knew about payments to police and officials.
The new investigation into the media mogul's role in payments to public officials, together with his invitation to appear again before the Commons culture, media and sport committee, follow a Channel 4 News broadcast of a secret recording of Mr Murdoch speaking candidly to a group of journalists from the Sun newspaper in March this year.
The tape, obtained by the investigative website Exaro, was requested by police investigating payments to public officials by journalists.
Exaro said that a detective chief inspector on Operation Elveden made clear that the audio of Murdoch's comments was relevant to its investigation because it "may contain evidence of conspiring to commit misconduct in a public office".
