Received this e-mail today from our favorite Congressman Alan Grayson (D. FL-09) in support of another great progressive champ, State Senator Daylin Leach (D. PA-13).  Leach is running for the 13th district being vacated by Allyson Schwartz (D. PA) as she pursues her gubernatorial bid:
President Harry Truman was a smart guy. He once said, "Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time."

He was right. Truman sought to represent the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party. And he understood a basic fact of political life. In politics, if you believe in nothing, you'll fall for anything.

All too often, when Democratic leaders make plans to recruit Democratic candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, their strategy is to find candidates who believe in nothing.

When one of these candidates was asked about immigration and tax policy, what was his answer, stated in a prominent national newspaper?

"Certainly I have a lot of research to do."

Recruiting know-nothings might be their plan, but it's not our plan.

We will be finding True Blue DEMOCRATS, and electing them.

I think I've found one, by the name of Daylin Leach. He's a current member of the Pennsylvania Senate, and he's running for the 13th Congressional District in your fine state. But before I decide to endorse him, I'd like to hear what you have to say about him. So please, send me your thoughts on Daylin. You can reply to this e-mail with your comments, or just go to this web site and submit your comments there:

If you don't know him, that's fine. You can just send me your favorite quote by a Democrat. But if you do know him, let me know what you think about the guy:

Because we're all in this together.

Congressman Alan Grayson

PS. Please share Harry Truman's quote on Facebook or Twitter.

Please leave your thoughts about Leach here:

Daylin is running in a safe blue district but in a crowded primary.  He's been called Pennsylvania's Liberal Lion for his staunch positions against tracking and Governor Corbett's draconian budget.  Leach is also strong ally for unions, the middle-class, LGBT, and has been pushing to legalize marijuana in Pennsylvania.  If you would like to learn more about Daylin Leach, please go here:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

A great reason to tout Daylin - whom I have watched for years, since he represents a neighboring district - is to keep out the Clintons' hand-picked candidate, Marjorie Margolies Mezvinsky.  MMM made one heroic vote for Clinton's balanced budget twenty years ago, and then suffered through the humiliation of being married to convicted fraud felon Ed Mezvinsky.  However, she has done or said NOTHING in the political arena for tha past 19 years!  What kind of advocate for progressive causes, or even centrist causes, is that?  We certainly DON'T need a Centrist in a pure blue district - that is where we should promote our strongest progressive, as personified by Daylin Leach.  If the Clintons want to give MMM some payback, they can bless her with an ambassadorship when/if Hilary gets elected. MMM's candidacy is more of a sop to Chelsea's mother-in-law (yes, MMM is mother to Chelsea Clinton's new husband) than it is a strengthening of the Democratic caucus in the House.

    Go, Daylin!!
