Florida governor Rick Scott has been squawking about how sequestration has led to National Guard furloughs that affect storm preparation.
On this site, some people suggested boycotting Florida until the state repeals its ALEC-sponsored law.
So, why not combine the two?
What if Democrats in Congress vowed to punish Florida by blocking any disaster relief should a hurricane devastate the state, unless movement is made to repeal the "Stand Your Ground" law?
Get some members of the Congressional Black Caucus to lead the charge in the House. Find a few Senators willing to place a hold on the bill.
It may sound harsh, but if you're one of those people who thinks Harry Reid should do more arm-twisting to pass filibuster reform, this is the sort of stuff you want him to do. Getting Democratic politicians on board with this would be more effective than prancing through the streets of San Francisco.
Just to be clear, I believe that George Zimmerman would have been acquitted even if SYG didn't exist. But I still want it repealed.
