step towards equality, even if it didn't come with enthusiasm:
House Republican leaders announced in a court filing Thursday that they will not be defending remaining statutes similar to the Defense of Marriage Act that ban recognition of same-sex couples’ marriages.
Given that House Republican leadership justified their intervention the first time around by saying that they had a duty to defend legislation that they believed to be Constitutional, I guess this means that in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling, even House Republicans acknowledge that DOMA is unconstitutional. Not that they're happy about it.
