You ought to be out raising hell. This is the fighting age. Put on your fighting clothes.

Paterson, New Jersey - Mother Jones takes a side trip to speak to Social Democrats
Mother Jones gave a speech at the annual picnic of the Social Democrats of New York City last evening at Sulzer's Westchester Park. When she was introduced on the platform, she was greeted by wild cheering from the crowd of 4000. She had to wait several minutes for the cheering to cease before she could begin her speech:
I will be here with my children from the textile works Thursday evening, when I will address you at some length. I am too tired to do so now, and as you see, I am very hoarse.
There is one thing I must tell you, and that is that I am going to complete the journey to Oyster Bay with my army to see the President. The newspapers say he will not see me. I am going there to find out if he is the President of the capitalists only, or whether he is the President of the working men too. If he is the President of the capitalists only, he will be wiped out at the next election.
Mother was escorted about the park and she enjoyed the tests of strength very much, especially the sledge hammer competition. She also enjoyed watching the children at their games such as egg racing and rope skipping. She said that she was happy to see them playing in the open air and glad that they had a chance to go to school.
The Industrial Army paraded about Paterson this morning with their drum corps before taking to the road again, headed for Passaic.

Seattle, Washington - Seattle Mayor Closes Potlatch Carnival to Prevent Rioting
George F Cotterill, Mayor of Seattle, ordered the suppression of The Seattle Times yesterday due to the rioting by sailors of the Pacific Fleet on Friday evening. The Mayor sent policemen to confiscate the papers before they could be issued to the newsboys. Saloons were also ordered closed. However, an injunction was issued by Judge J.E. Humphries forbidding seizure of the newspapers and the closing of saloons, and, therefore, the paper was issued, and saloons opened as usual.
The Mayor did succeed in shutting down the Potlatch Carnival, and three hundred Seattle citizens were sent back to their homes.
Mayor Cotterill stated that the reports of the speech by Navy Secretary Josephus Daniels were exaggerated, and that the speech made by the Secretary against the red flag was not responsible for the attacks by the sailors against the headquarters of the Socialists and the I.W.W.
