Much has been made of the Republican legislature running a muck in North Carolina. For the poor, effects are already being felt. Expect more to come.
The closing of HealthServe Community Health Clinic - located at 1002 S. Eugene St. - is scheduled for Friday, August 30 and is expected to impact an estimated 20,000 patients, according to TAPM.
The healthcare provider cited multiple reasons for its decision to close. They said in a statement, "The rising number of uninsured adults needing healthcare, coupled with North Carolina's decision not to expand Medicaid and the loss of historical community funding, has had a significant negative financial impact on the community's largest primary care safety-net provider, Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine, Inc. (TAPM)."

The primary reasons for the closing
1. The NC Republican controlled Legislature refusing to expand Medicare.
2. The Republican controlled County Board of Commissioners cutting over a million dollars of funding.
3. And million dollar cuts from local health care companies such as Cone Health
This is Republican Health Care at it's best. Get the poor people off of health care and let them die.
But never fear, Cone Health has a plan for the sick and uninsured:
Per the Winston-Salem Journal:

Cone Health will continue financial support of the pediatric practices of TAPM in Greensboro and will continue to serve any uninsured patients who seek care at its urgent care centers and emergency departments.
