I am a simple man. I am not famous and I am not rich. I do not think I am better than you. I am flawed and imperfect. Yet, I want to run for United States Senate from the great state of Kansas. Below I will lay out some of the reasons why.
Corporations are not people. Under United States law Apes do not have personhood. Apes, at least, are intelligent living creatures closely related to humans. Corporations have much less claim to personhood than the average chimp. When we consider the rights of Monsanto, we should keep these facts in mind.
It is my view that Multi-national corporations are enemies of individuals, freedom, Democracy and the pursuit of happiness. It is a sad state of affairs that our elected officials often collude with corporations against the best interests of the citizenry. This is a betrayal of all that we as Americans hold dear. It is a betrayal that should be punished at the ballot box.
Washington needs good men and women that will fight against corporate interests and in favor of the average person. Monsanto, The Koch brothers, Wal-Mart, et al should not be able to treat us as indentured servants.
I believe that all people deserve equality and respect. This leads me to support marriage equality. We cannot, as a society, devalue an entire class and still claim to be free.
I believe that any attempt at "immigration reform" must include a path to citizenship.
The Minimum wage must become a living wage.
Farm states (like Kansas) should support the legalization of hemp farming.
It is time for real economic stimulus (like that created by President Roosevelt) rather than phony bailouts for banks. We need infrastructure and jobs programs to repair our economy.
Too big to fail should not mean too big to jail.
