On Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, activists will be raising their voices in unison to commemorate the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and demand further progress from our elected leaders.
In 1963, more than 200,000 people gathered in the nation's capital to demand the government pass comprehensive civil rights legislation, protect the right to vote, invest in quality education and public services, create more jobs and end all forms of discrimination.
Although the nation has made progress toward broader goals of the 1963 March on Washington, we have a long way to go to achieve its vision for a more equal and just society.
