Kalliope
Means "beautiful voice" from Greek καλλος (kallos) "beauty" and οψ (ops) "voice". In Greek mythology she was a goddess of epic poetry and eloquence, one of the nine Muses.
Join us every Tuesday afternoon at the Daily Kos community political poetry club.
Your own poetry is always welcome in the comments.
Bongos, berets & turtle neck sweaters optional.
The keyboard is mightier than the sword.
Sorry,
I don't have time
to give you as much
as I gave you last week.
I truly enjoy
taking the time
to explain what's on my mind,
carefully,
clearly,
and to make the words flow.
But I only have a little,
this week.
We moved my old
National Geographic
magazines,
at least some of them,
those that occupied
the bottom shelf
of a 4' x 4' bookcase
that I built about thirty years ago.
I piled the magazines
on a two wheel dolly,
and moved the bookcase,
and rolled the dolly across the house,
and loaded them into the bookcase again.
These are from the
1940's,
1950's,
and so on to the nineties.
I once took time
to read a National Geographic magazine,
from 1959,
cover to cover,
including the ads,
especially the ads.
Ronald Reagan,
advertising a train,
for example.
Every article and ad
was very interesting.
I'm too tired to go on.
We put our wax melt kit
in the new room,
and put in a nice fragrance cube,
to make us feel more at home.
Smells go to the emotional center of the brain.
I hope a few of these lines of words
go to the emotional center
of your brain!
Have a great day.
Readers & Book Lovers Series Schedule
We have a volunteer
for the third Tuesday
of each month.
Three more such volunteers,
and I can relax!
So,
aside from any third Tuesday,
such as the 20th of this month,
aside from those,
all the other Tuesdays
are opportunities for you.
You have the poetry in you;
I can feel it!
