I get why the athletes don't want to boycott the Olympics. They have trained for years and then a few months before the Winter Olympics are to begin, Russia passes an anti-gay law that has given rise to many sick, sociopathic haters to post videos of people beating the crap out of homosexuals.
The most recent, disgusting, violent, anti-humane video that I know about was reported today by the Huffington Post. I am not going to link the video because it is repugnant and I will not give the haters who made that video space in my diary. The said video, as reported by HuffPo states
the victim is repeatedly beaten and kicked over the entirety of her head and body while being dragged around the park by the men for several minutes, at one point by her underwear. The title of the video reportedly translates roughly to a reference of the transgender woman as a "homosexual" and then continues by saying "view from 16 years old." It is unclear whose age to which the number 16 refers.
The woman appears to escape towards the end of the video and the viewer can then see one of the men rifling through the contents of her purse. At least one bystander is present throughout the attack, though no attempt is made to stop the men.
This terrifying video is unfortunately not the first of its kind to emerge following Russia's passage of anti-gay "propaganda" legislation.
Naturally, Vitaly Mutko, the Russian sports "minister" (minister my ass) said the controversy over Russia's newest hate-law is an "
invented problem" and that the Russian anti-gay ban does not actually "ban" what people do in "private" and to say otherwise is just Western media pushing a false narrative.
Mutko said the law was intended to protect Russian children. "We want to protect our younger generation whose physicality has not been formulated. It is a law striving to protect rights of children – and not intended to deprive anybody of their private life,"
Key words: "private life" ... because once you go outside, you can get the sh't beat out of you by haters and no one will stop even the most brutal attack.
I reiterate, I understand why the athletes do not wish to boycott and it is regrettable that Russia passed their hate-law at a time when it was too late to move the Winter Olympics. That said, I will personally boycott the Winter Olympics. I will not watch any part of the Olympic coverage. I realize that my one television blacking out all Olympic coverage is not going to mean a GD thing to the IOC, Russia broadcasting or any broadcasting network but it is the least I can do to show solidarity to all homosexuals and transgenders no matter where they live.
So Russia, I say F.O. I aint gonna watch no stinking Olympic coverage.
