According to USA Today, the brothers Koch have lost interest in purchasing the Tribune group of newspapers which are comprised of eight daily papers, including the LA Times and the Chicago Tribune.
The billionaire brothers, known for their generous support of conservative causes, conducted a due diligence assessment of the eight daily newspapers that Tribune has put up for sale . . . [but] concluded that a deal wasn't financially viable.

That's the good news. The bad news is that Rupert Mudoch's embattled News Corp remains among the contenders for the eventual media purchase.
