The Obama administration is being hit from all sides on the crisis in Egypt. Obama doesn't face many good options. Does the White House support the Muslim Brotherhood who went to great lengths to issue invidious radical decrees during its brief reign? Or does it support a militocracy that has killed well over 1,000 pro-Morsi protesters and seems to be ushering in another Mubarak era? Supporting Islamists isn't very appealing but supporting military dictators, as we learned during 9/11, breeds terrorism. The struggle is a battle over "legitimacy," but winning it has been elusive for both sides in Egypt.
