October 1st is fast approaching. This is the date state health exchanges, a central component of Obamacare, kick in. Before they left on summer recess, House Republicans voted for the 40th time to repeal it. The most important name that came up in my mind during this fiasco was Don Quixote, the Spaniard knighted by an innkeeper, just to get Don Quixote out of his hair.
You may remember parts of this old story. Don Quixote wanted to bring back chivalry and rode through the countryside on a a skinny horse, wearing a rusty old suit of armor, and tilting, or jousting at windmills because he believed them to be ferocious giants.
The ridiculously repeated and quixotic voting to repeal the ACA is the Republican version of tilting at windmills. At the end of the story, Don Quixote came to his senses. Will Republicans ever come to theirs?
