This morning, I'm going to the Crowdfunding East Conference in Cambridge, MA. I can't stay for the afternoon sessions, unfortunately, but I'm hoping to learn a bit from some of the folks who have had a degree of success funding their projects & initiatives via Kickstarter, Indie Gogo or any of a growing variety of potential sources.
From their web page:
The Crowdfunding East Conference provides an opportunity for non-profits, entrepreneurial and creative community to learn about the options to raise money for their ventures and projects.
The Morning session will examine the rewards and donation-based crowdfunding. A Special Panel will be devoted to crowdfunding for University research and enterprise programs.
The Afternoon session will explore business financing options.
Our speakers are chosen based on their expertise and their diverse opinions, so attendees will receive a comprehensive view about crowdfunding and its future in the private investments eco-system. You will witness intense debate between opponents and advocates of crowd investing.
Attendees will also hear from private investors, lawyers and entrepreneurs, who will be sharing their experiences and evaluating the potential of involving general public in private investments. This information will help you to make educated decisions about the benefits and drawbacks of various fundraising options.
Anyone else going? If so, hopefully I'll see you there!
*Note: It's been hectic lately IRL, so I've been v. bad about trying to set up the next BosKos meetup. This isn't it - but, if folks in BosKos &/or NE Kossacks, or even MA Kosmopolitans, are in the vicinity and planning to attend, it could be an ad-hoc. I should have a real diary posted for setting up a formal BosKos get-together in the next couple of days - watch for it on Friday.
