More below the fold:
One of the biggest changes coming down the pipe with patch 5.4 is a new tier of raiding called flex raiding.
Flex raiding is a raid difficulty harder than LFR, but set up for a group of between ten and 25 players. It doesn't use the Raid Finder interface, so you have to invite raiders, but the loot system is the per-person drops and extra rolls from LFR and the difficulty scales with the number of raiders that you bring.
This is intended to assist with gearing raiders up, providing a bridge between LFR and 10 or 25 person raids. It's also a good way to bring more casual raiders into the endgame without inflicting LFR upon them.
Here's Ninotchka with more to say about it from the forums:
I've decided to muscle in on the 8:00 EST Tuesday night LFR time slot on the first night of the new patch, and reappropriate the time to run a flex raid. I figure to start the invites just before 8 and queue no later than 8:10/8:15 so that we have time to get at least a little progress before I have to drop for the 10:00 Team Kaels run. There's a good chance that the group would be able to keep on going without me, which would be super cool.
I haven't checked this with Rubi or Pamena or Tvath or Jantuk or my kid or really anyone else so there's a good possibility that the idea will get shot down in flames almost immediately.
Pending any objections, here's how I'd like to run the flex.
I do not plan to ask for a minimum item level, however for at least this first week I want to ask that everyone bring their best-geared character on this server unless we really need a particular class/role. None of the encounters take more than two tanks so far as I know, so after I invite the second tank all the rest of you tanky folks will have to dust off your dps sets. I want to try for a 3:1 dps:healer ratio to start off with, we will see if that is achievable. I'd like everyone to have the ability to listen in on vent and to consider downloading a boss mod like, but not necessarily limited to, DBM.
I'll probably draft someone to handle healery things since me tank me not know healery things.
The new flex raid is currently scheduled to go live on Tuesday, September 10th, so that would be the day. If there's any interest, of course.

With that, here's Ninotchka with the Team Kaels Report:
Team Kaels would like to thank the Mysterious Forces of Fate for plaguing us with disconnects, broken keyboards and personal crises during the last two weeks of a raid tier, and remind the Mysterious Forces of Fate that this means they promise not to plague us with these ills once the new patch hits.
Think that will work?

Here is Pamena with the Team RubiPam report:
We are now working on Lei Shen, the last boss of this raid tier, in a desperate effort to down him before the patch drops and he is nerfed. We made real progress Wednesday night, which took the place of our usual Thurs night run, getting him down to 30% twice, so we are starting to master the dance. However, our dps is still a bit low for this fight, and Monday will be Elu's last night with us for a long time, so we will see if we can get our firepower up for that night enough to get the Thunder King down while Elu is still with us. We will SO MISS you, Elu, but real life takes precedence, we know and understand. We're fortunate that Lynera and Buckdeekay are available to step in, and we'll see if we have a viable group without Elu's stellar damage dealing in the weeks to come. |
And finally, Moodyloner with the Team Z report:
We went back to 2-healing the Ambershaper this week, and we noticed that the Amber Monstrosity started dropping. We had to work on breaking the healers out of constructs or hoping that they weren't in one when we got to phase three.
Finally it all came together, and although every surviving raid member wound up in a construct we managed to get Ambershaper Un'sok down.
Of course we didn't get loot because everyone in a construct died, but there you go.
We're going to spend a session not wiping to the Ambershaper before we face the Empress and wrap up the Heart of Fear. We press on!

That's all I have this week.
For the Horde!
