Hi again and happy Friday!
I went to the homebrew store today and will be brewing pale ale tomorrow, first brew in months. Anyone else brewing?
On another blog this week a shit-stirrer offered the opinion "big hops is so 5 years ago". Discuss.
There is rightfully some backlash against the proliferation of unsubtle hop bombs, and of course some people simply don't like the style. But IPA is certainly not going away, in fact it's multiplying. One of this year's hot trends is "Black IPA", aka "Cascadian Dark Ale", basically an IPA with enough dark malt for color but minimal roast malt flavor. Another hot trend is "White IPA", you tell me what the hell that is. Not to mention "Belgian IPA".
Whatever you call it, some of them are good and some are the other kind.
I'm leaving soon to have dinner; I think the best beer that restaurant has is Lagunitas IPA, which I really shouldn't complain about. I've got some Hop Stoopid for later. What are you drinking?
