I was watching some old Beastie Boys videos on You Tube today and I just couldn't help but crying. I loved them so much. I swear I felt more loss when I heard he died than when I heard my own father had dies. At least Adam had given me more joy. Not only was he an incredibly talented musician he also had a conscience and he used his platform as an artist to tirelessly to help people around the world. I bet the vast majority of the people who know what's going on in Tibet and all of the terrible things that are being done is because of Adam Yauch. He was Jewish but practiced Buddhism very seriously. Everyone thought until the very end that he would pull through because he was just so positive. The world just doesn't seem like the same place without him. I remember when Adam, Adam and Mike all came out and publicly apologized for their misogynistic attitudes when they were younger. How many other bands have you ever seen to that? They were cooler than any other rap act and they didn't have to rap about violence or calling women hoes to be cool. They were a class act all the way. The Beastie Boys were hip hop. They were rock n roll. They were music for all and not just one people.
