Didn't want to respond to a closed discussion on the help desk and re-open it. But, to Elfling - thanks for the prompt response and helping me get reinstated.
Since I was banned 15 months ago, I had submitted 4 requests to the help desk to get reinstated. I was never sure I was submitting the request correctly because I never received a response. But, this time, I just did it as a regular discussion, and it seemed to work.
Having participated here for about 10 years, I missed being part of the community. So, I appreciate the consideration of my request and thank you for helping me get reinstated.
So, what have I been up to over the past 14 months?
Well, I've been with the same company for many years and an opportunity came up for me to work in both Canada and the UK at the same time. As it is, I spend about 1 week each month in Canada, 2 weeks in the UK and the balance at home. I was very tentative about accepting such a position because of the travel involved, living out of hotels and short-let flats, and the impact it would have on both of us. Both of us have had a history of health issues. Despite that, we've been doing amazingly well with it. My husband is Scottish and a dual citizen, so he has been very happy to get to the UK frequently (he's been able to go with me on every trip). And, being an artist, he's certainly taken advantage of it with such a huge arts community in London.
I was most worried about my best friend - Beau, my Maltese. But, a good friend has been very gracious about taking him in when we are gone and he doesn't seem any worse for wear.
And, thanks to the Supreme Court ruling and the quick changes made by Homeland Security, we now go up to the Immigration counter together and present our passports, as every married couple gets to. And, we now only fill out one Customs form instead of two !! I know to many it may seem like a trivial thing. But, for us, its a matter of dignity and respect.
It's good to be back. Thank you.
