It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
I would read the article first, but here are a few fair use take-aways
For many like this woman, their faith in Obama is resolute and unshakable. But, they have found kinship with conservative, hard-line war hawks who see an opportunity to alter the Syrian civil war and place another imperial imprint on the region.
On this side are also those who are simply convinced of the administration’s argument: that Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons on his own people and that he should be punished, not only for moral reasons but to ensure our own national security.
The truly anti-war-inclined, many of them true liberals, are so exhausted by our current and recent forays that they can’t even fathom another.
Now, personally, I don’t trust Russia’s Putin or Syria’s Assad any further than I could throw them, and the logistics of the Russian plan seem nearly impossible
One thing I might add is after the last thirteen years I have a real problem trusting anything that comes out of any politicians mouth when war and national security are mentioned.
With the past decade or more of foreign adventurism thrown in with the Homeland Security NSA imbroglio coupled with so many blatant lies; what reason do I have for trust?
Trust comes out of what you have seen rather than what you would like the perception to be, and then all of a sudden we are worried about war crimes, ain't that sweet of us? We protect our own [hi Henry, Dick, Donald and George to name a few] completely, we have also supported many when it was in our "best" interests to do so [hi Saddam, Suharto, Pinochet etc] just like Vlad is doing with Assad.
Right and wrong blurred by the expediency of perceived national interest, don't worry most people are not blind to this conundrum and the history books will be full of the lying, crimes and general wheeling and dealing in the future.
War criminals should be punished.
We have any easy place to start eliminating the confusion.
It starts right here at home.
Then we can start talking about exceptionalism.
Otherwise it just rings as hollow as a bell with no tongue.
