PPP has some mixed news for incumbent Governor Scott Walker (R. WI). First the good news for Walker, he's in the lead:
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/...
Walker is up 47/43 against Peter Barca, 48/42 against Mary Burke, 47/41 against Kathleen Vinehout, and 47/40 against Tom Nelson. He leads by 5-10 points with independents in all four match ups, and takes an average of 12% of the Democratic vote while losing only 7% of Republicans.
There's reason to think the race could get closer though. Barca, Burke, and Vinehout all have around just 40% name recognition, while Nelson's is just 23%. As a result an average of 14% of Democrats are undecided, compared to just 4% of Republicans. That means the eventual Democratic nominee should have more room to grow as they become better known. - PPP, 9/17/13
Now the bad news (and good news for us) is Walker's approvals are at 48/49 and his Democratic challengers have little name recognition right now. But here's the big thing hurting Walker:
One issue that's hurting Walker is the abortion bill he signed this year. Only 20% of voters in the state support it, compared to 47% who are opposed. Voters are more closely divided on whether the solidarity singers should have to get a permit to protest at the legislature- 41% side with Walker in saying they should have to, while 45% don't think they should have to get one.
Wisconsin's been one of the most polarized states in the country over the last few years and the generic legislative ballot on this poll shows that hasn't changed. 44% of voters in the state say they'd support a Democrat in their district if there was an election today, compared to 43% who would go Republican. 87% of Democrats say they'd support their party, 89% of Republicans go for theirs, and independents are split right down the middle at 38. - PPP, 9/17/13
PPP surveyed 1,180 Wisconsin voters between September 13-16, 2013. The margin of error for the survey is +/- 2.9%. Despite Walker being in the lead, this poll is encouraging and once we get our candidate, we'll be ready to take out Walker next year. The Wisconsin Democratic Party is pretty giddy after seeing this poll and are using it as a fundraising tool:
The latest poll from Public Policy Polling confirms what we’ve all known for months -- Scott Walker is crumbling under the weight of his own failure.
Without even an announced challenger, Walker’s approval rating has fallen into the Net Unfavorable category. It’s the clearest evidence to date: Scott Walker is imminently beatable.
This race is ours for the taking. We can win Wisconsin back, restore our progressive legacy, and bring back good, clean government that works for the people, not corporate special interests.
Say you’re with us to beat Scott Walker in 2014 by making a donation of $14 today:

The way I see it, there’s really only one downside to today’s poll – the sleazy money from special interest billionaires like the Koch Brothers is going to start pouring in even earlier and faster than we thought.
That half-a-million dollar campaign of lies from Walker’s corporate sponsors at Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce was just the tip of the iceberg.
But we’ve got the truth on our side and we’ve got the grassroots on our side. That’s why, despite being outspent on the airwaves already by more than a 100-1 margin, we’re moving the chains and making a difference with Wisconsin voters.
We don’t need corporate millions to beat Scott Walker. We just need you. Chip in $14 or whatever you can afford today to help us win in 2014:
