House Republicans just had another vote, this one on the resolution to appoint conferees—approved by a 228-199 vote—basically guiding their loony tunes final demands for
shutting down the government.
They decided that they really must insist that their crazy ass amendment to strip health insurance from their staff be deemed as passed, even though the Senate rejected it. And delay the individual mandate in Obamacare. And make the Senate come meet with them to hash out a six-week spending bill. So many conditions required to shut down the government.
There will be final votes on all this crazy stuff two or three hours into their shutdown.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader basically declared the whole thing what it is, bullshit, and adjourned the Senate just after midnight. They will reject this exercise in futility by House Republicans when the Senate reconvenes at 9:30 ET Tuesday morning.
Oh, and Obamacare is open and ready to start taking enrollments. How do like them apples, Speaker Ted Cruz?
