Sunday I found these egg masses for Rough Skinned Newts(Taricha granulosa) along the trail that I walk daily with our dog in NW Polk Co. Oregon. A brief power outage Sunday delayed the posting of this diary. I checked them yesterday(Monday 9/30/13) and didn't see any change that was noticeable to the naked eye. Apparently newts commonly lay these egg masses under leaves but since it is so wet now after a week or so of constant rain, I guess they layed them out in the open. They are in a forest and a creek(now swollen and VERY audible) is quite close. I will check them again today. I love this !
