Listen, I know Americans are going through hell right now and I know the government shutdown is awful for everyone but I just have to get this lawsuit moved forward.  Eric Holder and the Department of Justice need to pay for Fast & Furious.  This is really killing me and my campaign contributions.  It really is!
Investigation after investigation after investigation.

Oh wait!  Now a lawsuit!

Wait, it's an old lawsuit but now Darrell Issa is re-opening it and it's the previous lawsuit that he filed against U.S. Attorney General Eric holder and the Department of Justice.

Remember when Darrell Issa did his own whip lashing at Eric Holder over Fast & Furious?

Well, Federal Judge Amy Berman has whip lashed Congressman Issa for choosing to resume the lawsuit at a time when the government shutdown is straining government agencies across the board.

A federal judge was less than amused when Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) requested that a lawsuit he filed two years ago be allowed to move forward in spite of the fact that federal courts have been immobilized by the Republican shutdown of the U.S. government. According to Think Progress, Judge Amy Berman Jackson refused to consider violating the shutdown to handle the case, saying that it’s ridiculous for Issa to make the request, considering his caucus’ role in ordering the government to close.

Issa filed a motion as part of his House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s failed investigation into supposed misdeeds by the Department of Justice in the “Fast and Furious” operation. Issa is still attempting to order Attorney General Eric Holder to hand over confidential documents or risk being held in contempt of court.

The motion insisted that a “Contingency Plan provides that Department employees may continue to work on matters necessary to the discharge of the President’s constitutional duties and powers,” and therefore his actions against President Barack Obama and the Justice Department should not be affected by the federal work stoppage.

Here's Judge Berman's statement:

There are no exigent circumstances in this case that would justify an order of the Court forcing furloughed attorneys to return to their desks. Moreover, while the vast majority of litigants who now must endure a delay in the progress of their matters do so due to circumstances beyond their control, that cannot be said of the House of Representatives, which has played a role in the shutdown that prompted the stay motion.
So in other words, an Congressman Issa is being a colossal Isshole.

So California and CA-49 residents, how about those voter registration drives?  Issa represents a R+4 Congressional District where Democratic and Independent voter registration numbers are because of redistricting and growing San Diego County demographics:

Orange County:
Democrats:  22,239
Republicans:  44,833
Decline-to-State/Independent:  19,077

San Diego County:
Democrats:  84,282
Republicans:  107,221
Decline-to-State/Independent:  70,938

Total:

Democrats:  106,521
Republicans:  152,054
Decline-to-State/Independent:  90,015

The current Democratic challenger to Darrell Issa is Dave Peiser and here is his contact information:

Here's Peiser's information.

The website still needs more updating and we still need to know where Peiser stands but it seems he's pretty fired up via Twitter:

If you desire to have another candidate and want to fire up the base in CA-49, start contacting the CA State Democratic Party and the San Diego County Democratic Party to see about getting additional candidates to run in the primary against Darrell Issa, as well as voter registration drives, canvassing for Peiser and other potential Democratic candidates in CA-49 (if applicable), phone banking, whatever it takes to make Issa go more nuts (and he's already nuts right now).

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
