The Sun is out today. Is that news? If you live in the Seattle Washington area it is. I have a store two miles from my house where I go and buy groceries. On the way there,
I counted 6 people standing asking for money. One of the people I saw standing was a young girl holding a sign: "I am homeless ,broke, need help."
I stopped and put money in her hand and tried to talk but her eyes were always on the
ground. She may have been 18 years old. I know a con, this child is afraid of something.
The Seattle Times writes "Boarding mentally ill becoming epidemic." I thought they were talking about my son. Our city has no where near the beds the mentally ill need.
Last month another murder occurred by a homeless mentally ill man.
Boarding mentally ill means they stay in hospitals until a bed opens up. My son has stayed at several.
Now King county (Seattle) has placed him in jail in another County north of Seattle.
Everyone knows my son so put him somewhere else.
I talk about Mental Illness allot and when the problem is on the front page of the largest paper in the State, it says we need to build more Mental Hospitals.
I just said a stupid thing but what else do we do? I wish it to be different but I have met many mentally Ill folks who know Andy. They could be your neighbor. They look just like us. Talking with some, I wonder what their illness is?
One man I liked had nearly killed someone but was too ill to be tried.
I don't think we have more Ill people then before, its just that they were hidden from us.
I don't believe any area is free of Mental Illness. The question is how do we deal with
these folks?
We need to take money out of the budget and create outreach programs. Houses should be available with trained folks knowing how to deal with what disease a person may have.
Go under a bridge at Christmas as I have with my best friend. You will be shocked as who the people are. Alcohol is a problem and Drugs. Anything to escape the reality they find themselves in. One thing is constant:ALL WILL TAKE HELP OR WANT IT!
A lady was just killed in front of the White House. I wasn't there and said what I felt about her.
A front page story, a killing at the White House, An English Department head killed in Seattle by a man with my sons illness means we as a public need to be proactive.
My friend and I have given many rides to Ill folks to get their meds. We have fed them.
I cant promise you will always be safe in certain places, so lets jump in and help our ill brothers and sisters!
No person was ever honored for
what he received. Honor has been
the reward for what he gave.
