The progressive group Americans United for Change is possibly Sen. Ted Cruz's biggest fan right now. The more the tea party Republican talks about the need to sink Obamacare and use the government shutdown as leverage, it seems, the lower his party's ratings seem to go. So the group sent Cruz a fruit basket on Friday, along with a note of thanks for still talking. “Dear Ted, a Texas sized thank you!!! Thanks to you, Obamacare is more popular and the GOP is less so. Keep up the Good Work!!!”

On January 19, fifteen-year old Jadin Bell hung himself in a schoolyard after being bullied online and in person for being gay. Bell didn’t die immediately, but he was taken off life support and died two weeks later, on February 3. Joe Bell, Jadin’s father, decided to create Joe’s Walk for Change to educate the country about bullying. “We need to stop this bullying,” Joe Bell told the Huffington Post in May, just after his cross country walk had begun. He added, “it starts in our households, how we raise our children. We need to educate our school systems on how to deal with it; they don’t know how to deal with the problem.” [...] Wednesday night in Colorado, while on his walk across the nation, Joe Bell was hit by a truck and killed. “Officials said that the driver was charged with reckless driving and may have fallen asleep at the wheel,” the Huffington Post reports.
