Gosh, this is really terrible news.
Now the government probably will stay shut down forever and default is pretty much guaranteed because there's absolutely nothing that the Speaker of House can do if he can't find 217 Republicans to end this crisis.
I suppose the situation wouldn't be nearly as bad if there were 200 Democrats in the House willing to vote to reopen government and avoid default, because if that were the case it would take just 17 Republicans to join them in saving the country for disaster.
Sadly, however, we apparently live in a world in which Democrats don't count and only Republican members of Congress are allowed to vote—or at least that's the case if you listen to House Republicans and the members of the media who refuse to challenge their narcissistic nihilism.
