I just read some of the stories David Corn is collecting on Twitter and it fills me with such a sense of happiness for all my progressive brethren South of the Border.
Now of course, it's not single payer like we have here in Canada, but the ACA is a massive step forward and I'm so excited about the lives it's going to save!
I lost my sis to Cancer in 2011. It was the most difficult thing in my life and to think it could have been even worse because we couldn't afford to care for her the way she and all other human beings deserve is just unimaginable. You hear all these horror stories about single payer and wait times and all that and I was there and I can tell you my sis received world class care, the only reason she didn't make it is because the symptoms didn't get bad enough to find the cancer until it was Stage 4, by then way too late. But the nurses and doctors treated her like she was a member of their own family, they cared for her both physically and mentally and allowed her to die with as much dignity as a horrible disease like Cancer will allow.
It makes me angry to see the Rethuglicans trying so hard to prevent something that will eliminate so much needless suffering, both physical and mental. I'm not a religious man, well I'm Agnostic so I don't know if I am or not, lol, but people like that make me hope there is a Hell so that one day they'll get what they deserve. They're only doing this to protect their greedy, scumbag rich friends and it makes me physically ill.
Then you see people like Rep. Vicky Hartzler say moronic things like: "The American people have spoken already on this: They do not want Obamacare .... It is hurting people."
Facepalm.
Ok moron, the American people DID speak on Obamacare on November 6th, 2012 and it WON 332 to 206, so OPEN THE F-ING GOVERNMENT!
I don't know if you guys truly realize how much this is going to change your society for the better, and not only that but I'm betting it'll save the U.S. tons of money in the long run with all the preventative medicine and people not having to go bankrupt and then not being able to pay back the bills. Of course the Rethuglicans can't see the long run over the piles of money they get from their rich buddies.
Anyway, I tend to ramble but I'll close with this. KEEP FIGHTING, and don't let the President give up on the ACA. The stakes are too high to let a handful of regressives destroy the lives of all the people the ACA will help.
