I just got the email asking me to sign the petition from DKos and the DSCC denouncing Ted Cruz. Actually, it is apparently a short message directly to the junior nutcase from TX. For those of you that haven't read it, it simply states:
Dear Sen. Ted Cruz:
Your arrogance, ego and extremism did great harm to our country. Shame on you.
As much as I agree with the sentiment, I disagree with the tactic dignifying him with a response.
A recent poll by Pew Research shows that Cruz's favorability within his TP echo chamber has risen by 27 points from 47% to 74%. He is wearing this whole debacle as a badge of honor, and to be demonized by the DFHs of the radical left-wing net roots will give him an additional fundraising tool that he does not deserve. Obviously ignoring him will not make him go away, but addressing him directly gives him too much standing, IMHO. "Address your remarks to the chair" as they say in the Senate chambers. There are ways to talk about him and make him the topic of discussion without elevating him to the status of participant in the conversation. When he grows up, he can have a seat at the table. In the meantime, I just see this particular campaign as being something that plays right into his hands.
Just my thoughts.
