It's Sunday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
This week has been a tad peculiar. But just a tad. Among other things, we've had glorious weather, clear and cool after morning fog - and it's usually raining pretty steadily by now.
Last Monday, I went to work really early. I had an audiobook out from the library that would be automatically checked back in at about 9:00 AM and I wanted to finish listening to it before it disappeared.
I had already listened to it about 4 times, but I really like the book - I've lost count of the number of times I've read it on my Kindle, and when the paperback comes out at the end of November, I'm going to buy that, too.
Tuesday morning, I walked through the set-up for a flu shot clinic on my way to my office from getting off the bus, asked when they would open, dumped my stuff in my office, went back and got in line, got the flu shot and was back in my office 20 minutes before I had to clock in. Now that's efficient.
The program I do to keep my cheap health insurance has been revamped again this year, and to keep it inexpensive for 2015, the particular program re-opened on October 7, and 1200 points are required before September 30 of next year. This will not be difficult, actually. I did, however, have the dregs of a cold, so I waited till Wednesday to start recording things. I already have 35 points - see, I told you this would not be difficult.
Wednesday was the day I got on my second bus to go home and found my daughter was on it. She has been telling me she was going to quit smoking. I figure she means it now, since she didn't light up when we got off the bus. I wasn't sure before.
Thursday morning, I finally managed to work up the nerve to collect the final signature of the 25 I promised to collect for the marriage equality amendment to Oregon's constitution.
That afternoon, I had to turn a library book in so I wouldn't have a fine, and I checked out six more while I was there. I believe I have mentioned my addiction to books a few times. I currently have 37 books checked out and holds on 8 (one of which I may very well end up purchasing).
Friday, I dropped off the signatures at the office they have to be turned in at.
I've spent all week at work trying to get authors on our various abstracts being submitted to the American College of Cardiology for their annual scientific sessions next spring to get on the ACC website and update their disclosures (or just do them in the first place). I still have three who haven't done them.
I did collect the last signature on a copyright transfer for a paper that we just submitted to the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography. That particular author was out of the country and just got back.
Really exciting weekend so far. Laundry, dishes and other chores.
