You just can't make this stuff up.
A poster at RedState is claiming that ObamaCare could cost his family $50,000 per year in premiums.
Here's how he got to that number:
Here’s what I found when I tried this new feature. I entered in my city, state and number of people in my family to see what health plans are available to me and my family.
First, I decided to look at the low-tier, catastrophic coverage, under ObamaCare. This should typically be the cheapest plan per month. Yet one option would have cost my family over $50,000 a year in premiums.
OK, so one or more of the options would have cost $50k per year. And what is that option? It's something that has been discussed here. I was shocked to see that myself and asked about it and did some more research. More below the squiggle.
Here's the picture he/she puts up to show this fact.
Notice that all these plans include the "MO" at the end. That, as we have discovered already, means that the plan covers Bariatric Surgery.
Apparently Bariatric Surgery is NOT required to be covered under the ACA. Instead, it has been left to the states to determine if it needs to be included or not. So if you want a policy that covers it in a state in which it is not included in ACA policies, you need to buy a VERY expensive plan - because you are self selecting as one that is going to have bariatric surgery that year.
So, another huge amount of disinformation is disseminated to the masses at RedState. Anyone care to try to correct the record over there?
