One of the favorite films of this site… along with its many famous quotes which serve so many purposes in so many situations… is The Princess Bride.
Mandy Patinkin, renowned actor and singer, played the beloved Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride film. In this 1987 film, Inigo was the “Spanish brat” all grown-up who had spent his life searching for the “six-fingered man” who killed his father.
In a video from a “CBS This Morning” interview, Mandy Patinkin reveals his favorite line from The Princess Bride.
Transcript of the video (and revelation of Patinkin’s favorite line if you didn’t already catch it) below the dkos swirling basket-hilt:

The Princess Bride : Most Potent Quote

Transcript of Patinkin's interview:
There are two lines from the Princess Bride that I love. The one that everyone is very familiar with is (spoken in Inigo's voice):
Hello,
My name is Inigo Montoya.
You killed my father.
Prepare to die.
That's the popular one.
But, I heard another line from the movie... about five-six years ago... I was in the gym working out, running through my lines/ my songs, for a concert. The TV was on. The movie was on the TV, but the sound was off because I was running my stuff and I went up to my hotel room to have my dinner before the theatre.
And my wife was there and she had the movie on and it was at the end of the movie. Right when Buttercup falls out the window into Andre's arms... Robin falls into Andre's arms.
The Man in Black, Cary, is sitting there asking me to be the Dread Pirate Roberts.
And that 30-year-old Mandy... and the 58 year-old Mandy is watching this... is watching the 30-year-old Mandy say a line that I said... it's in the movie... but I didn't really hear it as that young man.
And, for me, it's the most potent line in the whole film. And that line is (spoken in Inigo's voice):
I have been in the revenge business so long... now that it's over... I do not know what to do with the rest of my life.
And I love that line. And I love it for all of us because the purpose of revenge in my personal opinion is completely worthless and pointless. And the purpose of existence is to embrace our fellow human being. Not be revengeful.
And turn our darkness into light.
So, that's the line I love from the movie.

My twenty-six-year-old son sent this to share this morning because he heard the message. And understood. Thank you Mandy.
For the "Hit and Run" diary police... it's "Ciao y'all" because there are roofing contractors in my backyard... be cool and let the message share a little net space.
