I had a lunch offer yesterday. The restaurant she offered to take me to is one of my favorites.I turned her down. I was too busy getting phone numbers of Republican  Congress members to pass on to you.
My friend noticed I had only a few comments and when I glanced early Saturday morning,
I would not have one new comment. I tried to explain to her excellent writers are here,I
am a work in progress. I was missing the point, anyone can find a phone number if they want to.
My friend reminded me I was active in an earlier time. People on "our" side don"t make pests of themselves or would be willing to pester congress folks in all 50 states. Occupy folks would march, but they smell bad and Republicans would laugh.
My friend may be right. I may spend hours gathering phone numbers that you could easily do yourself. I am trying to get someone in this Country to get what I am SCREAMING!
The snakes in Congress started with a reduction in food for the needy. In Oregon,1 out
of every 5 households receive food assistance. In future budgets, fewer and fewer people will be allowed ANY food help and the amount will be less each budget.
The 1% own the Republican party and the rest read comic books and watch Fox.
Unless  people who care become proactive, the bastards win.
The Tea Party folks are as evil a bunch as I have ever seen. They, however, are IN power. We who bitch and moan are outside looking in.
Great writers should shine a mirror on what the bastards are doing. We then should not wait untl election day to change things, the sqeeky wheel needs to be loud. Martin Luther King complained about apathy and apathy is still an enemy in 2013.
I see a tired President. What other president has had a major television network whose
sole job is anti-Obama 24 hours a day 7 days a week? An entire industry is thriving selling hate Obama everything.
I will keep gathering phone numbers and passing them on. Get involved, please. Don"t let the bastards hurt this Country and our families anymore.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Hey Vet63. I read your "You have to be there" (6+ / 0-)

diary the other day, T/R'd and left a comment then went online to look for volunteer opportunities here locally. Think I'm gonna try Senior Gleaners here in Sacramento. They work gathering food and other necessities to distribute to those in need and support area food banks. I walked by yet another fellow huddled up on the curb on a cold morning where I work and then thought better of it. I went back to ask if he was ok, shared my lunch with him-had some extra crackers and cheese packets, banana, a juice box, rice krispie treats and was able to heat up a ham, egg and cheese croissant in the microwave at work. It was a cold morning and I didn't have any coat or blanket to offer. I will in the future pick some up at the thrift store to have in my car. Also keep overpacking my lunch box so I have extra to share.
My point is, you inspired me to do this with your post. I rarely comment and almost never diary but I read daily and react. You never know who you're reaching or how many people might have picked up the phone with their congress members number so handy.
Keep posting. I'm sure there are others who appreciate your posts as I do.
BTW-Occupy folks smell like cinnamon rolls and Republicans don't laugh-they sneer

It's only a democracy if we make it so.
What good is the First Amendment if we don't use it?

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

if you give exercise and nutrition advice, then you already know that everyone - even, and even especially the most devoted - needs to take a break, have a treat, be nice to yourself. You're lucky there's someone out there trying to be nice to you - let them! Then come back refreshed and strengthened to fight some more.

your not the first who has said I am taking this way too hard.
I have been where the hungry and poor have. I guess you will stay away from my posts. I accept that. I can"t accept letting the Republicans hurt people with out a fight.

What you do, what we do, it matters. Even if only a few people notice each time, eventually it adds up. If you get a few and I get a few, that's a few more that are paying attention. It's slow work, and sometimes I want to strangle my friends for not taking it seriously, but change is hard and they're doing the best they can. Just remember, time is on our side. To win, all we have to do is not give up. But still, take time to eat lunch. And thank you for caring.

thanks, my friend was trying to stop me from handing out phone numbers no one would use. I said "if one person makes a call in protest,it is worth the effort."
thanks for a great message message.
