Received this e-mail today from Senator Al Franken (D. MN) regarding the Employee Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA):
It’s been a difficult and often ugly few months in Washington -- but we have a chance to make some real progress on an important issue if we jump into action right now.
A group of Senators and I are making a final push to end discrimination against LGBT Americans in the workplace. Will you join us?

This is long overdue. In dozens of states, it’s legal to fire employees just because they’re gay. That’s insane.
But for too long, a common-sense ban on workplace discrimination has gotten held up and bogged down in Washington. More than 17 years ago, it failed by a single vote. But now, finally, we think we see a path to getting this done. And we’re calling on our supporters to help us take the last step.
My fellow Senators and I need your help. Please click here to sign our petition and show you agree that we need to end discrimination against LGBT Americans in the workplace!

This is the best opportunity we’ve had to get this done since I came to the Senate. And if we don’t act right now, there’s no telling when our next chance could come.
So please click here and take action today -- and let’s end workplace discrimination!

Thanks,
Al
P.S.: This really could happen -- I’m part of a group of Senators absolutely committed to pushing this over the finish line in the next few weeks. But we can’t do it without you. Click here to join us.
