The Canadian Press is reporting that creepy Toronto mayer Rob Ford has admitted during a press conference today at city call, that yes, he is a liar.
The embattled mayor of Toronto made a shocking admission Tuesday: "Yes! I've smoked crack cocaine!
Am I addict? No. Have I tried it? Probably in one of my drunken stupors.
You guys kept referring to alcohol...there's been times when I've been in a drunken stupor. That's why I want to see the tape. I want everyone in the city to see this tape.
Surprise, surprise. After lying to anyone who would listen that he has never smoked crack and that a video of him doing so simply doesn't exist, the right wing blowhard could no longer deny the truth.
His right wing supporters are circling their wagons.
Now that Toronto’s Chief of Police has confirmed that the mayor does indeed appear in a 2013 cell-phone video appearing to smoke crack cocaine, Ford’s defenders are digging trenches. His lawyer says: You can’t prove it’s crack. A woman called my radio station to say that as a sculptor she could understand how someone could fashion a plastic mask to look like the mayor. Many argue they would rather a crack-smoking mayor than any of his sober rivals.
It’s understandable that some conservatives would do what they can to protect Rob Ford. This is a city that votes left. That a right-wing-seeming populist was elected in 2010 was historic. And the ardency of his cult following goes beyond his place on the political spectrum. He’s a Hugo Chavez character: a satisfyingly big finger poked in the eye of the traditional power holders.
He's poked his finger in it all right, however it was the eye of the Canadian conservatives that got the finger. How he can survive this without resigning his office is beyond me. He's obviously and embarrassment to himself and some could argue he's an embarrassment to Canada. I would argue that he is simply an embarrassment to the conservative movement as a whole.
