There was always a fringe in this country who believed this shit but with it being codified into a massive propaganda and disinfo campaign over a 40 year period utilizing the fortunes of known Billionaire fascists- the Coors, the Kochs, the Scaifes, and on and on until these have become the core motivating beliefs of a large majority of Repukes and I dare say you'd find elements of it present in most white people's opinions.

I have a client, a very sweet 85 year old lady who sends me these wingnut e-gandas and she believes them as if they were handed down from the mount. It strikes me if they've managed to get kind older ladies to believe this hateful nonsense and literally seethe with anger, I have to wonder if most white people, after this 40 year onslaught of propaganda, are even redeemable from the ocean of lies they swim about in.

These once fringe opinions have become so mainstream it goes around now in email form, landing in the in boxes of countless bobble headed wingnuts going "yup, it's those damn (insert favorite scapegoat here) wrecking our country!".

So join me below the whatever color that squigglythingamajigger is without further comment, here it is. It is to simply shake one's head and mutter sad expletives about the relative intelligence of white Americans.

The American Dream ended (on November 6, 2012). The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind.

A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays, Government Workers, Union Members, ACLU, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the "forever needy," the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other "fellow travelers" have ended Norman Rockwell's America. The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch - the Pit Bull is in the back yard.

The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals" and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod, along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their beige puppet to bring us Act 2 of the New World Order.

Our side ran two candidates who couldn't even win their own home states, and the circus fatty Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing "post Sandy " tribute that elevated the "Commander-in-Chief" to Mother Teresa status.

People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will never again comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.

You will never again outvote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take Zealots, not moderates, not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.

Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to "white guilt" and political correctness.

I'm done.

Dear Patriots:

At least in OUR time, we knew and understood Valor!
It is, to that end, our lives will conclude as they were begun - No Surrender and God Bless America!

And if I might add a hearty "Fuck You" to this racist piece of shit, Marine or not and I would remind him and all like him of the simple fact about who "built" America. Black people built America you stupid sumsabitches. We had slavery for 300 goddam years and the labor of untold millions was outright stolen as they built everything from Washington D.C. to every agricultural enterprise larger than a family farm throughout the country with a few exceptions all in the then "west" and Northeast during the last 75 years of the "peculiar institution". That's right you white knucklehead, all these people you just can't stand to call your countrymen not only built it and its infrastructure but with little doubt probably predate your family's residence on the North American continent by centuries. But why let facts get in the way of a good hate. You soft-headed fool have been duped by those who would enslave YOU to place the blame for what's happening to this country on the very people who have no power to do much of anything. To believe otherwise is to prove oneself a dupe and an imbecile. I have no other words larger than the 4 letter kind to deal with anything else this email brings up except it is sowing the winds of this sort of hate that leaves a whirlwind to be reaped.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I think it has more to do with standards of living, or at least the accessibility of a given standard of living, and how that standard of living was seen as the good life and something to be proud of.  These are the guys who remember the post-war boom decades, when America was a manufacturing powerhouse as well as an oil exporter, when unions and the New Deal were still going strong.  They remember good jobs for the taking in the skilled trades, they remember when only high school kids worked at McDonalds or at the gas station, they remember when a gallon of gas cost 25 cents, a car cost a few hundred dollars at most, and a little Levittown crackerbox house cost as much as a luxury car costs today, they remember bacon and eggs and whole milk for breakfast every day, they remember good values and "real" heroes who always won on television and the movies, they remember a world of peace and plenty, without endless grasping and guilt-tripping from both high and low.

Google "Old Economy Steve" and you'll get a feel for just how good these guys had it.  And now they look at how things have changed and see a society that's fallen very far from what they remember.  They see their sons and grandsons achieving far less than they did at that age.

Race is part of it, but the way they see it, black people didn't go from oppressed to free, they went from functional - i.e. 2 parent families, church every Sunday, honest work, normal clothes, old-fashioned good manners, etc. - to fucked up.  And the government and the culture didn't give money and attention for being fucked up.

Domestic politics is the continuation of civil war by other means.

I'm 60 years old and remember a lot of those things, I also remember the bombing of churches in Birmingham, the murder of many many rights activists, some by this government and some by clowns whose whiteness was their validation.

It came down to this, the ruling class, especially in the south in order to lord their plutocracy over everyone else needed to cheat working class people, black and white, to maximize their profit. Now the worst thing that could happen would be whites and blacks joining forces and getting rid of the oppressors so what do you do? You make one lower than the other and then tell the whites the scarcity of jobs isn't because of the plutocracy cutting labor to the bone or bad farming practices had wiped out agricultural employment but because of those uppity blacks getting YOUR jobs. Before long you had working class whites oppressing working class blacks and everyone's ignoring the real authors of the misery- the rich. But as long as you give those poor whites something to be proud of (their whiteness) and a scapegoat to blame their ills on then you Mr Plutocrat- are safe.

Since time immemorial this is been the formula and it's always worked until a ruling class becomes so ostentatious and so oppressive that their guilt for the condition society finds itself in can no longer be hidden. Then "woosh" they're gone.

The Repukes have been and will continue to sow this propaganda intended to scapegoat everyone that populates the pantheon of Republican Objects of Hate. Note the mention of big time wingnut boogeymen like "International Socialist" George Soros (Because it's a well known fact socialists are almost always billionaire capitalists, something like that anyway) and Saul Alinsky- and please nevermind the fact that the Tea Party has used Trotskyite tactics to gather power to itself. It all makes some kind of sense to a wingnut.

It's definitely more economics than it is rights though, these people honestly believe that of all the taxes they pay what doesn't go to the "takers" goes to another wingnut boogeyman, Foreign Aid. Never mind that this is demonstrably untrue. Never mind that because like all things that contradict the wingnut POV, they are immediately ignored. So it's people of color that get "their" tax money, not corporate America and the MIC, nope not that. Surely there are elements of racism in this insistent belief, if there wasn't, they wouldn't be so resistant to bowing to the facts of the matter. But make no mistake, this is the integral point that makes so many white people vote against their own economic interests- because of this erroneous belief that the taxation they experience is for the benefit of lazy people who could work but don't.

Karl Marx's Dispatches for the New York Tribune?  He described, in real time, the basis of support for the Confederacy---rich white people who owned slaves and were concerned about their actual economic well being, and poor white people who were fully convinced that, someday, they will be able to own slaves in one of the new western territories if slavery is allowed to continue.

Fast-forward to 2013.  Rich white people?  Still killing it and at no risk of "losing the country."  Non-rich white people?  That delusion of one day being able to drop your boot on a dark-skinned underling is over; the benefit of being low-income and white versus being low-income and black as been diminished to the point that it barely matters to the low-income white person.  That's what has been taken away.

I've never heard a hateful word come out of her mouth but she definitely buys into all this and always has apparently despite having come up during the depression and seeing what liberalism does for a country.

But personally, I believe people's politics are most shaped by their personality type. In other words what conforms to their already preconceived notions and the predisposition of their personalities makes for their political persuasion. I think this is especially true of those drawn to right wing and authoritarian beliefs. On the other hand those who label themselves "liberal" or "progressive" most often arrive at these very complex belief systems through analysis of facts and that's not just because our personalities tend to require facts before developing opinions but because our demonstrably higher intelligences demand analysis and factual information too.

Not that we don't also have a number of "knee jerk" beliefs but compared to a wingnut whose entire belief system is shaped by his prejudices and fears these are few and far between.

We made it back in time and the teacher told me that Ms Bridges still gets so many death threats that no school is allowed to disclose that she's coming. She is afraid of endangering the lives of everyone at that school should word get out.

who was heavily influenced growing up next door to my grandparents who raised a family during the depression and to whom FDR was some kind of demi-God. They told me all I needed to know about politics.

        1) Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for everyone else. (If they were alive today to see the likes of these corporate democrats my Grandmother would have a fit that you'd have to see to believe. That woman had a temper and man did she despise Republicans.)

        2) Do not believe a word that comes out of ANY Republican's mouth. They will lie to fool people into voting for them.

        3) If I ever voted for a Republican, I would be disowned. This happened to my dad who foolishly voted for Nixon in '72. His mother, the hyper Democratic Grandmother, had one of her fits over it and refused to speak to him except to tell him she disowned him. This went on for about a year until the ever deepening Watergate scandal provided some catharsis for them to make peace over.

And this all relates to you because I am the first in my family to have been born in California. And where did my whole extended family come from? Why, Oklahoma, of course.

Oklahoma is a prime example of how the subversion of the churches in the heart of the Bible Belt caused the populace to switch from being Democrats to Repukes- all because these wingnut ringers for preachers hi-jacked their pulpits and told their congregants to vote republican or baby Jeebus would toss their asses straight into the "lake of fire". But there was a time when Oklahomans were grateful Democrats and it's a damn shame how the abuse of churches has led to a straight up far right majority.

I have never voted for a Republican except once when it didn't matter and that was because how bad I despise Diane Feinstein. Of course had it been a close race I would never have voted for the Puke.  Thanks Grandma for the great advice you gave me!

You seem to have overlooked that "Feminists, Gays, Government Workers, Union Members, ACLU, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the "forever needy," the chronically unemployed" can be white people.

So, basically everyone is a traitor except for racist fucks like you.

is a racist.  I would bet she would happily bring slavery back.

Also, don't forget that Chinese laborers were brought over to build the railroads, kept in slave conditions and denied citizenship until 1943.  Blacks were not the only victims of the American legacy.

But didn't want to send this off in too many directions.

If anyone was treated worse than African Americans, it would be the Chinese.

It was a little different in Nam due to the racial tensions but most Nam Vets I know love their brothers of color if they served in combat zones, some still hung on to predjudices and racism AFTER they returned but most I know ARE colorblind...That is especially true after the Vietnam War.  My husband is a native american and mixed black heritage and he said many troops were divided till they got in the jungle and they were suddenly bubba and Forrest from that day on.

He somehow forgot to add "white people who went to college" and "white people who live in cities."  I'm sure it was just an oversight.
People like me are completely politically irrelevant....
    Ugh...if only!
