Today’s news reports all seem to be quoting Paul the Youngster’s advisor Doug Stafford and his short but confusing press release.
The way Stafford contradicts himself is far more entertaining than the hourly revelations of more plagiarism from Rand.
Sanford's retromingent release (quoted below in its entirety courtesy of NBC FirstRead) is almost as humorous in its convoltuions as Paul’s own ramblings.
I was totally amazed when I read and then re-read this press release. The opening and closing of these three paragraphs seem to be an admission of what news reports have been reporting for over a week (bolding mine).
In the thousands of speeches and op-eds Sen. Paul has produced, he has always presented his own ideas, opinions and conclusions. Sen. Paul also relies on a large number of staff and advisers to provide supporting facts and anecdotes - some of which were not clearly sourced or vetted properly.
Footnotes presenting supporting facts were not always used. Going forward, footnotes will be available on request. There have also been occasions where quotations or typesetting indentations have been left out through errors in our approval process. From here forward, quoting, footnoting and citing will be more complete.
Adherence to a new approval process implemented by Sen. Paul will ensure proper citation and accountability in all collaborative works going forward.
So which is it, Doug? Rand the Youngster
ALWAYS presents "
his own ideas, opinions, and conclusions," OR is it "
all collaborative works?”
You can’t have it both ways, Doug.
Either the ever-brilliant Rand the Younger ALWAYS creates his own work (when not challenging women to a duel), or his writings and speeches are "collaborative efforts."
One or the other, Doug. One is true, one is false (unless of course both are false).
How can one person contradict himself so thoroughly in only 119 words?
Please clarify, Doug. Footnotes are not required.
Sorry for the short diary. Only one source for this one and nothing below the magic squiggle.
