It's Election Night in many states across the country, and we're liveblogging the results of races large and small. The biggest contests are for governor in New Jersey and Virginia and mayor in New York City, but there are many other hotly contested elections that are up for grabs, including attorney general and the state House of Delegates in Virginia; a key state Senate seat in Washington; and mayoral races in Boston, Seattle, and many other cities.

You'll also want to keep our Virginia county benchmarks post handy to gauge how well Democrats are doing in the Old Dominion as returns come in.

4:05 PM PT: According to CNN, the first wave of exit polls have Democrat Terry McAuliffe beating Republican Ken Cuccinelli 50-43 in VA-Gov, with Libertarian Robert Sarvis at 7. Note, though, that exit polls typically get updated as the night goes on, so this spread might change. However, it's exactly in line with the pre-election polling averages.
4:09 PM PT (Darth Jeff): Early votes are reporting in St. Petersburg and they look good. They have Democratic challenger Rick Kriseman leading Republican incumbent Bill Foster 55-45 in this race that both parties spent heavily to win.
4:10 PM PT: The exit polls also have the party breakdown as 39% Dem, 31% independent, and 30% GOP. That's bluer than 2012, which was 39 D, 32 R, and 29 I.
4:12 PM PT (Darth Jeff): 24 out of 92 precincts in and things continue to look great for Kriseman: His lead remains 55-45.

4:19 PM PT (Darth Jeff): 77 out of 92 precincts reporting in St. Pete and it looks like a done deal. Kriseman continues to lead 55-45.
