It's Election Night in many states across the country, and we're liveblogging the results of races large and small. The biggest contests are for governor in New Jersey and Virginia and mayor in New York City, but there are many other hotly contested elections that are up for grabs, including attorney general and the state House of Delegates in Virginia; a key state Senate seat in Washington; and mayoral races in Boston, Seattle, and many other cities.
Results: New Jersey | New York | Virginia
6:16 PM PT: Local news station NY1 has called the NYC mayor's race for Democrat Bill de Blasio, though no AP call as yet.
6:17 PM PT (Darth Jeff): In Boston's mayoral race 62% is reporting and Walsh remains narrowly ahead 52-48 over Connolly.
6:18 PM PT: We're up to 85% reporting in VA-Gov and Cuccinelli's lead is now just 0.5% over McAuliffe. But in the AG's race, Democrat Mark Herring is almost 3 points back.
6:19 PM PT (Darth Jeff): New York City's mayoral race has been called for Bill de Blasio by NY1. Gives the city it's first Democratic mayor since David Dinkins' defeat in 1993.
6:21 PM PT (Darth Jeff): Two-thirds reporting in Charlotte and Democrat Patrick Cannon remains narrowly ahead of Republican Edwin Peacock in the race to be the city's new mayor. Cannon is up 50.39 to 49.4.
6:22 PM PT (Darth Jeff): 90% reporting in Greensboro and Democrat Nancy Vaughan leads Republican incumbent Robbie Perkins 59-41 in the mayoral race. This one looks very over.
6:23 PM PT: In AL-01 (D), there's still a lot of votes left to be counted in Mobile County, which should swing hard toward Byrne, the establishment guy.
6:24 PM PT (Darth Jeff): We have a call in Boston. Marty Walsh, the labor backed candidate, has defeated John Connolly to be the new mayor. Connolly has conceded. Boston has no term limits and no mayor has lost since the forties, so we could be seeing Walsh around for a long time.
6:26 PM PT: Now at 88% reporting and Cuccinelli is up exactly 400 votes in VA-Gov.
6:29 PM PT (Darth Jeff): In Detroit 16% of precincts reporting and Duggan leads Napoleon 52-48 to be the city's next mayor.
6:30 PM PT (Laura Clawson): The liveblog continues here.
