Yesterday was Veteran's Day, and I thought about my late father, a WWII and Korean war vet, and I thought about the homeless vets I know (way too many).
I thought about our country's steadfast reluctance to establish a department of Peace, and how often our government has chosen to answer worldwide crises with war instead of peace, and how those choices have brought blowback to our own country.
I don't advocate for Dr. Rush's vision, or former Cong. Dennis Kuchinich's vision, but i do think it's time to push our government to think outside the box and find better ways to respond to potential "threats".
