I'm late tonight. Most weeks, I have this diary queued up a day or two in advance, but it's been a busy week. NOT that I haven't been thinking about y'all - even on my transit to where I was headed this morning, it was like, ok, what's the theme this week?
And as I was listening to the shuffle in my ears, it occurred to me: the shuffle! What's in yours?
Here are the first four songs that were in mine today:
1) Clapton, Baker, and Bruce:
2) Billie Joe and the gang (even as a geezer, Green Day never gets old. I swear...). This is such a powerful song.
3) Guenter Haas - Room With a View. I'm not even completely sure why this made it onto my iPod, but when it came up in the shuffle (after Green Day), it was almost the perfect bookend. That might have been due to my frame of mind at the moment.
And, to round up my weekly four song complication - or compilation, depending on your spell check - The Hooters. I don't know why Rob Hyman and crew never really broke into the big time. Rob's got some nice paychecks and royalties (courtesy mostly of Cindi Lauper), but the Hooters put out some superb dance music. Interesting personal note about this vid - I spent more than one night at the drive in theater where this video was filmed.
What's on your shuffle tonight? First four (or next four) - don't be embarrassed - make us all proud, even if your iPod is loaded with Lawrence Welk polkas and Air Supply drek. Lay it on us, baby.
